SHOES:
Most locations require gym shoes on their
floors (no street shoes), so you
can wear a pair of gym shoes if you have them,
or just socks. What will be better for your
knees is a pair of shoes that allows you to
slide. See if you have a pair of
shoes with a smooth leather bottom (like dress
shoes) or a pair you have worn
off all the tread, then clean the soles off
thoroughly so there is no dirt or
grit on them and bring them (don't wear them)
to class. They can be your
"designated dance shoes" for the duration
of the class.
Body Gear,
a local dance shop on the Commons, 101 S. Cayuga St., Ithaca, NY,
has many dance shoes to chose from and can order even more options.
Great personal service!
Online try: Dance
Connection has a lot of options to chose from and are very helpful
over the phone.
Less expensive options than dance shoes:
*Buy bowling shoes, which have a suede leather sole just like dance
shoes in a sneaker style shoe.
*Take a pair of shoes to Cobbler's Cottage, and have them put leather
or suede soles on the bottom: .222 Elmira Rd # 11, Ithaca, 14850
- (607) 273-2951
* Put duct tape, or cloth sports tape on the bottom of your shoes
for better slide on the floor.
